The Met Gala 2026 embraced the theme “Costume Art,” with a dress code centered on “Fashion Is Art,” encouraging attendees to blur the line between fashion and artistic expression.
For her 13th Met Gala appearance, Kardashian worked alongside her creative director, Nadia Lee Cohen, to fully embody the night’s theme. Together, they collaborated with renowned artist Allen Jones to bring the vision to life.
The outfit was a custom creation by Allen Jones and Whitaker Malem. Jones, a legendary British pop artist, is known for his provocative and influential works that blend sculpture and fashion.
During the Vogue livestream, Kardashian explained her inspiration:
“One of my favorite artists, Allen Jones. We took his body plates that he started making in the 60s. This is actually a mold from a model in the 60s… we all worked together.”
Kardashian shared her admiration for Jones’ work, noting how often his influence appears in fashion. When it came time to choose her look, she described the concept as:
“Iconic. Sexy. Classic. Cool. Innovative.”
For the standout tangerine fiberglass breastplate, Jones repurposed a cast originally created in 1967 or 1968—bringing a piece of art history into modern fashion.
