Tuchel Set to Drop Foden, Palmer and Alexander-Arnold from England’s World Cup Squad

Phil Foden and Cole Palmer are reportedly among several high-profile stars expected to miss out on Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the upcoming World Cup, according to reports released on Friday.

Trent Alexander-Arnold of Real Madrid is also tipped to be left out, while Ivan Toney could make a surprise return to the squad following his move to Al-Ahli.

Reports also suggest that Morgan Gibbs-White and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been overlooked despite enjoying impressive Premier League campaigns and ranking among the top-scoring English players this season.

Foden and Palmer were key figures in England’s journey to the final of UEFA Euro 2024. However, both the BBC Sport and Sky Sports reported that the duo have paid the price for disappointing seasons with their respective clubs, Manchester City and Chelsea.

Meanwhile, veteran midfielder Jordan Henderson of Brentford is expected to be selected ahead of Adam Wharton from Crystal Palace.

On Thursday, Harry Maguire expressed his disappointment after reportedly being left out of the squad.

“I was confident I could have played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had,” the Manchester United defender wrote on social media.

“I’ve been left shocked and gutted by the decision.”
