Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, on Tuesday described President Bola Tinubu as a detribalised leader committed to fostering national unity through fairness, merit and equal opportunities.
Akume said the President’s administration places competence, character and patriotism above ethnic or religious considerations in governance.
He spoke in Abuja while receiving the leadership of the Nigerian Fulani Community Support Group (NFCSG).
According to the SGF, Tinubu has consistently demonstrated an inclusive leadership style, recalling that as Governor of Lagos State he appointed qualified Nigerians from different ethnic backgrounds and ensured candidates who emerged through party primaries were allowed to contest elections without discrimination.
“President Tinubu carries everyone along. He does not discriminate. As Governor of Lagos State, he appointed competent Nigerians from diverse ethnic backgrounds and respected the outcome of party primaries regardless of tribe,” Akume said.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to working with individuals and organisations promoting peace, national cohesion and sustainable development, describing Nigeria’s diversity as a national asset.
Akume said the government would consider requests presented by the delegation in line with its people-centred approach to governance.
He also urged Nigerians to reject divisive narratives, embrace peaceful coexistence and support the Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that peace and stability remain essential for national development and credible elections in 2027.
Earlier, National Coordinator of the Nigerian Fulani Community Support Group, Dr. Aliyu Iliyasu Ardido, praised President Tinubu for creating the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development, describing it as a landmark initiative for modernising the livestock sector.
He said the ministry would boost productivity, create jobs for pastoral youths and increase the sector’s contribution to the economy.
Ardido called for sustained investment in education, vocational training, ranching, sustainable grazing and veterinary services to improve the livelihoods of pastoral communities.
Reaffirming the group’s support for the Renewed Hope Agenda, he pledged continued advocacy for peaceful coexistence, lawful conduct and active participation in nation-building.
He also appealed for government assistance, including vehicles, motorcycles, logistics, renovation of zonal offices and campaign materials, to strengthen the group’s grassroots mobilisation efforts.
Ardido expressed confidence that stronger collaboration between the government and community-based organisations would enhance national unity, security and socio-economic development.
