The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has disclosed that nationwide anti-crime operations carried out between June 9 and June 21, 2026, led to the arrest of 1,198 suspects across the country.
Speaking on Tuesday during the monthly conference with strategic senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja, Disu said the arrests were made for various criminal offences, with security operatives also recording significant recoveries of illegal arms, stolen vehicles, and other assets.
The police chief further announced that 166 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued during the operations, describing the achievements as a testament to the commitment of officers deployed across the country.
He commended the dedication and courage of police personnel, noting that the successes were made possible by officers who carried out their duties diligently despite the personal risks involved.
