The Federal High Court in Lagos has approved a further 30-day detention period for socialite and jeweller Afolabi Kazeem Micheal, popularly known as KC Luxury, as the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) continues its investigation into allegations against him.
Justice Akintayo Aluko granted the extension on August 20, 2026, following an application by the anti-drug agency for additional time to investigate the matter.
KC Luxury was arrested by NDLEA officers on August 13 at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, while reportedly preparing to board a flight to Paris.
His arrest was linked to the seizure of 184.5 kilogrammes of cocaine, which the NDLEA described as its largest cocaine recovery involving a courier company.
The agency also alleged that €7,750, £2,800 and ₦100,000, alongside expensive jewellery, were found in his possession at the time of his arrest.
Meanwhile, KC Luxury has challenged his continued detention before the Federal High Court in Lagos. The case was filed before Justice Friday Ogazi, with his father, Eric Afolabi, submitting an affidavit in support of the application.
The family contends that KC Luxury has remained in NDLEA custody since his arrest without being properly informed of the alleged offence or formally charged before a court. They are asking the court to declare his continued detention unlawful and a violation of his constitutional right to personal liberty.
Justice Ogazi directed the NDLEA to respond to the claims and ordered the agency to produce KC Luxury in court at the next hearing.
The matter has been adjourned until September 9, 2026, when the court is expected to hear the substantive application challenging his detention.
