Suspected Thugs Invade Ondo Assembly Complex Amid Speaker’s Impeachment Proceedings

Suspected thugs on Thursday morning reportedly invaded the Ondo State House of Assembly complex as impeachment proceedings continued against the Speaker, Hon. Olamide Oladiji.

According to Assembly staff who spoke with Daily Trust, the suspected hoodlums reportedly arrived from Ondo town and moved from one office to another, creating tension among lawmakers and workers within the complex.

The situation reportedly heightened concerns among staff and legislators as the impeachment proceedings against the Speaker continued.

However, Hon. Olajide Oguntodu, alongside other lawmakers and security operatives, reportedly intervened and succeeded in removing the suspected thugs from the Assembly premises.

Meanwhile, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are expected to meet on Friday to address the unfolding political crisis and have called for peace and the maintenance of the status quo.

The development comes amid growing tension within the Ondo State House of Assembly over the ongoing impeachment process involving the Speaker.

Stakeholders have continued to appeal for calm, urging all parties to resolve their differences through lawful and democratic means in order to prevent further escalation of the crisis.
