Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Spain international Ferran Torres from Barcelona on a contract running until 2031.
The French champions confirmed the arrival of the 26-year-old forward, who will wear the No. 9 shirt. Reports indicate that PSG paid between €45 million and €50 million for the transfer.
Torres joins PSG following an impressive campaign with Barcelona, where he scored 21 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions and helped the Catalan giants win La Liga.
The move comes after a remarkable summer for the Spanish forward. Torres played a key role in Spain’s World Cup triumph, scoring the extra-time winner against Argentina in the final as La Roja secured their second men’s World Cup title.
PSG have moved quickly to strengthen their attack after another dominant period in European football. The club have reportedly won the Champions League in each of the past two seasons and added the UEFA Super Cup to their trophy cabinet on Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa.
Torres becomes PSG’s second major attacking signing of the summer following the arrival of Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco.
The transfer also reunites Torres with PSG manager Luis Enrique, who coached him with the Spanish national team and handed him his senior debut in 2020 during a Nations League clash against Germany.
Torres began his professional career at Valencia after joining the club’s academy at the age of seven. He became the first player born in the 21st century to appear in La Liga when he featured against Eibar in December 2017.
After three seasons at Valencia, Torres moved to Manchester City in 2020. He made 43 appearances for the Premier League side, scoring 16 goals and providing four assists, while winning the Premier League and League Cup.
Barcelona signed him in January 2022, and he went on to make 207 appearances for the club, scoring 65 goals and winning three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups.
At international level, Torres has won the European Under-17 Championship, European Under-19 Championship, Nations League and European Championship. He now has 65 caps and 25 goals for Spain.
His arrival could also have implications for Bradley Barcola’s future at PSG. Liverpool are reportedly interested in the France international and could make a move if the Paris club decide to reshape their attacking options.
