President Bola Tinubu has appointed Wasiu Olanrewaju-Smart as the new Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives), reinforcing his administration’s efforts to strengthen collaboration between the Executive and the Legislature.
Olanrewaju-Smart takes over from Ibrahim Olanrewaju, who resigned from the position to pursue an elective political office in his home state.
Announcing the appointment, the Presidency described Olanrewaju-Smart as a seasoned legislative expert with an exceptional blend of practical experience and academic excellence in public policy. According to the Presidency, his extensive background in legislative affairs and governance positions him well to drive effective engagement between the Presidency and the House of Representatives.
The Presidency noted that the new adviser is expected to play a key role in facilitating smooth communication and policy coordination between the Executive arm of government, the House of Representatives, as well as ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), ensuring the timely consideration and implementation of government policies and legislative priorities.
President Tinubu expressed confidence that Olanrewaju-Smart would bring his wealth of experience, intellectual capacity and unwavering commitment to the office, further strengthening legislative coordination and promoting a productive working relationship between the Presidency and the House of Representatives in support of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
