TINUBU APPOINTS NEW FOREIGN AFFAIRS MINISTER

Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs. The appointment follows the resignation of Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to prepare for the 2027 elections.

Before her new role, Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, bringing experience and continuity to the position.

The President has also nominated Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, pending Senate confirmation.

Ambassador Enikanolaiye, a seasoned diplomat from Kogi State, previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.

With over three decades in Nigeria’s foreign service, he has held key roles including Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic postings in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London, and New Delhi.

According to President Tinubu, the appointments are part of broader efforts to reposition Nigeria’s foreign policy for improved efficiency, stronger strategic engagement, and enhanced global partnerships.

The President congratulated the new appointees and urged them to work diligently in promoting Nigeria’s national interest, advancing economic diplomacy, strengthening regional stability, and protecting the welfare of Nigerians both at home and abroad.
