Federal Government Opens NAQS Recruitment, Applications Close August 10

The Federal Government has commenced recruitment into the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS), inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for vacancies across the Superintendent, Inspectorate and Assistant cadres.

The recruitment exercise opened on July 28, 2026, and will close on August 10, 2026. Shortlisted applicants are expected to participate in computer-based tests and interviews scheduled for August 15.

According to a notice shared by the Federal Character Commission on X on Wednesday, the recruitment exercise is completely free, and all applications must be submitted online through the official NAQS recruitment portal.

How to Apply

Interested applicants are required to visit the official recruitment portal, create an account or log in, select their preferred cadre and position, and complete the application form with accurate personal and educational details.

Applicants must also upload all required credentials and supporting documents, review their information carefully and submit the application online before the deadline.

The agency warned that applications submitted after August 10 or those that fail to follow the prescribed procedure will not be considered.

Available Positions

The vacancies are spread across three cadres.

Superintendent Cadre

  • Chief Superintendent of Quarantine Care (Veterinary Doctors)
  • Deputy Superintendent of Quarantine
  • Assistant Superintendent of Quarantine II

Inspectorate Cadre

  • Inspector of Quarantine I
  • Inspector of Quarantine II
  • Inspector of Quarantine III

Assistant Cadre

  • Quarantine Assistant I
  • Quarantine Assistant II
  • Quarantine Assistant III

Educational Qualifications

Applicants for the Chief Superintendent position must possess a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.

Candidates for the Deputy Superintendent position are required to have a degree in Law or a master’s degree in another relevant discipline, in addition to an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.

Applicants for Assistant Superintendent must possess at least a first degree from a recognised institution and an NYSC discharge certificate.

For the Inspectorate Cadre, candidates must possess an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE).

Applicants for the Assistant Cadre must have SSCE, NECO or GCE Ordinary Level with at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.

General Requirements

Applicants must be Nigerian by birth and possess a National Identification Number. They must also be medically fit, provide a certificate of fitness from a government hospital and pass a drug test.

Other requirements include good character with no criminal conviction, no membership of any secret cult or society, freedom from financial embarrassment and computer literacy.

Male applicants must be at least 1.65 metres tall and have a minimum chest measurement of 0.87 metres, while female applicants must be at least 1.55 metres tall.

The agency also listed certain physical and medical conditions that may disqualify applicants, including severe speech or hearing impairment, total blindness, obesity and limb deformities.

Pregnant women were also advised not to apply because of the physical demands associated with the recruitment exercise.

NAQS urged interested Nigerians to obtain recruitment information only through its official channels and warned the public against paying anyone for employment, stressing that the recruitment exercise is completely free.
