US Slashes Nigerian Visas to Single Entry, 3-Month Validity

The United States Department of State has revised its visa policy for Nigerian citizens, restricting non-immigrant and non-diplomatic visas to single-entry permits valid for only three months.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the US Mission in Nigeria explained that the decision is part of the Trump-era reciprocal visa policy, which affects several nations, including Nigeria.

The mission clarified that all US non-immigrant visas issued before July 8, 2025, will remain valid and unchanged. It also emphasized that US visa requirements are structured to uphold the integrity of the country’s immigration system.

Additionally, the mission urged Nigerian applicants to strictly adhere to their visa conditions and ensure all travel documents are genuine, accurate, and current.
