President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
In a statement released on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president described the late monarch as a distinguished traditional ruler who exemplified wisdom, service, and cultural pride.
Tinubu said the news of Oba Olakulehin’s death came as a great shock, noting that he was more than a royal figure — he was a guardian of Ibadan’s heritage, a man of intellect and integrity, and a key contributor to education, governance, and national progress.
He further stated that the monarch’s guidance and moral leadership provided stability not only in Ibadanland but across the Yoruba nation. He praised Oba Olakulehin’s enduring legacy as one that harmonized tradition with modern values.
