An agribusiness firm, Davidorlah Nigeria Limited, has called for increased investment in Africa’s agricultural value chains, saying strategic financing and infrastructure development are essential to driving economic growth and strengthening food security across the continent.

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the company, Segun Alabi, made the call while speaking at the Africa Social Impact Summit (ASIS) 2026 held at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos.

Presenting a paper titled “Building Africa’s Agri-Value Chains into Investable Infrastructure,” Alabi urged governments, development partners and private investors to reposition agriculture as an investment-driven sector capable of attracting long-term capital.

He noted that despite Africa’s vast agricultural potential, significant gaps remain in value addition, infrastructure, technology adoption, financing and market access, limiting the sector’s ability to achieve its full economic value.

According to Alabi, transforming agricultural value chains into investable infrastructure would not only increase food production but also drive industrialisation, expand export opportunities and create millions of jobs across the continent.

He stressed that achieving these goals requires stronger collaboration among governments, development finance institutions, private investors and agribusiness operators to address structural challenges affecting agricultural productivity and competitiveness.

Alabi added that coordinated investments across the agricultural value chain would help build resilient food systems while enhancing Africa’s competitiveness in the global agricultural market.

The Africa Social Impact Summit brought together policymakers, business leaders, investors, development partners and social innovators to discuss sustainable development and inclusive economic growth across Africa.

Davidorlah Nigeria Limited said its participation at the summit underscores its commitment to advancing agricultural transformation and promoting greater private-sector investment in Nigeria’s agribusiness ecosystem.

The company added that stakeholders at the summit agreed that strengthening agricultural value chains is key to improving food security, increasing productivity and positioning Africa as a competitive force in the global agricultural economy.
