I’ve Been Gifted a Car by Another Man While Married — My Husband Wasn’t Insecure, Says Omotola

Nollywood icon Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has stirred conversation online after revealing that she once received a car as a gift from another man while married — and did not return it.

Speaking in an interview on Naija FM 102.7, the award-winning actress addressed perceptions about women’s influence in Nollywood and her personal experiences with admiration and gifts.

Omotola pushed back against claims that women do not dominate the industry, insisting that they are in fact its driving force.

“Women are the ones who hold Nollywood,” she said, noting that many actresses are not just performers but also producers, entrepreneurs, influencers, and business owners. According to her, most of the women she knows in the industry run multiple ventures alongside their acting careers, with some even maintaining full-time professions.

However, it was her candid comments about receiving expensive gifts that drew the most attention.

“Women have admirers,” she said. “Me, who is married, I know how many people have gifted me things, women and men. They’ll just see me and say, ‘Omotola, I’m sending you this.’ They’ve gifted me a car before.”

When asked whether she returned the car because she was married, she responded bluntly: “No, why would I return the car?”

The actress credited her husband’s confidence and security for the ease with which such situations are handled in her marriage.

“He is the most secure human being you can ever meet,” she said, adding humorously, “Think about it, how would you marry an Omosexy if you’re not secure?”

Her remarks have since sparked debate on social media about boundaries, trust, and security within marriage.
