Nigeria international Ademola Lookman made an immediate impact for Atletico Madrid, scoring on his debut as the Spanish giants thrashed Real Betis 5–0 in the Copa del Rey quarter-final on Thursday.
The 28-year-old forward, who joined Atletico from Atalanta during the January transfer window for around €35 million, marked his arrival in style with a goal in the 37th minute at the Estadio La Cartuja in Seville.
Lookman’s strike came after a quick attacking move, as he found space and fired home to make it 3–0, capping a dominant first-half display by Diego Simeone’s side. Atletico cruised through to the semi-finals, with Lookman’s performance announcing him as a new force in the squad.
