Indian Authorities Deport Nigerian National for Visa Overstay, Suspected Drug Peddling

Indian authorities have deported a Nigerian national, Onyeukwu Victor, over allegations of visa overstay and involvement in drug peddling.

According to a report by The Times of India, Victor was deported by the Hyderabad police on Wednesday following investigations by the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW).

Officials said Victor arrived in India on a student visa in 2021, but remained in the country after the visa expired in 2024. He was alleged to have established contact with drug suppliers and facilitated the delivery of illicit substances to clients in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

HNEW operatives apprehended him while he was moving around the Banjara Hills area. Although no drugs were found in his possession at the time of arrest, authorities said he failed to provide valid immigration documents or a credible explanation for his continued stay in the country.

“Upon thorough inquiry, it was confirmed that he did not hold a valid visa and had been overstaying,” the report stated.

Victor has since been removed from India and handed over to immigration authorities for further actions in line with Nigerian and international protocols.
