NCC DG Seeks Stronger Security Support to Tackle Piracy

The Director-General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), Dr. John Asein, has urged security agencies to intensify their support in the fight against piracy and copyright infringement.

Dr. Asein described piracy as “a great economic sabotage” and declared that the NCC is fully prepared to win the battle. He warned that the commission would respond decisively to criminals testing its resolve.

The NCC boss condemned the mob attack on its officials and operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) that occurred last Thursday during a raid on bookshops allegedly selling pirated books in Sabo Market, Sagamu. He vowed that those behind the attack would face justice.

Speaking with journalists during visits to the state commands of the Nigeria Police, the Department of State Security (DSS), and the NSCDC in Abeokuta, Dr. Asein said the visits were to express appreciation for ongoing support and to seek deeper collaboration in eradicating piracy.
