GOV. OKPEBHOLO MOURNS PASSING OF ELDER STATESMAN DIG (RTD.) PARRY OSAYANDE

The Executive Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of a revered elder statesman and former Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Mr. Parry Benjamin Osayande, CFR.

Governor Okpebholo extends heartfelt condolences to the Osayande family, the Benin Kingdom, and the entire people of Edo State on the transition of this distinguished son of the land.

Describing the late DIG Osayande as a patriot and an icon of professionalism, the Governor noted that his entire life was dedicated to service to community and nation.

“Our State has lost a giant, a man of impeccable character whose contributions to the peace and security of Nigeria, as well as to the history of the defunct Bendel State and present-day Edo State, can never be forgotten,” Governor Okpebholo stated.

He recalled that Osayande’s name became synonymous with courage, discipline, and a sterling commitment to justice, citing his legendary exploits as Commissioner of Police in the then Bendel State during the 1980s as a benchmark for policing excellence in Nigeria.

The Governor further highlighted Osayande’s role as a reformer and intellectual within the Nigeria Police Force, stressing that even in retirement, he remained a national asset by contributing to several presidential and police reform committees.

“He was a true son of Edo who carried the cause of his people wherever he served,” Governor Okpebholo added.

The Governor prayed that God grants the departed eternal rest and comforts his family, friends, and associates with the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
