SSANU, NASU Issue Seven-Day Ultimatum Over Unresolved University Staff Matters

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) have given the Federal Government a seven-day ultimatum to address lingering issues affecting non-academic staff in universities.

In a jointly signed letter by SSANU President, Muhammed Ibrahim, and NASU General Secretary, Peters Adeyemi, the unions condemned what they described as the unjust disbursement of earned allowances, non-payment of outstanding entitlements, and other unresolved labor matters.

The letter also reminded the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, of an earlier correspondence dated June 18, 2025, from the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of both unions, highlighting the urgent need for government intervention.

Following the letter, the Minister convened a meeting with the JAC of NASU and SSANU on July 4, 2025, to deliberate on the issues raised. However, the unions stressed that progress has been slow, necessitating the fresh ultimatum.
