The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has appointed Comptroller Adebola Salawu as the new head of its Lagos Industrial Area Command.
The announcement, made on the Service’s official X handle (@CustomsNG) on Saturday, confirmed that Salawu succeeds Comptroller Sarah Wadinda, who retired recently after years of dedicated service.
A statement released on Monday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Juliana Tomo, confirmed that the formal handover ceremony took place at the Command’s headquarters in Festac Town.
Wadinda, who retired after a distinguished career, was recognised for her leadership and impact through corporate social responsibility projects, including the Customs Cares initiative at Festac Senior Grammar School. The school benefitted from a water treatment plant, an e-library, a photocopier, and refurbished toilet facilities — projects achieved through stakeholder collaboration.
In her farewell remarks, Wadinda expressed gratitude to Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi for his confidence in her leadership and urged officers to extend full support to her successor.
Comptroller Salawu, in his response, commended Wadinda’s achievements and pledged continuity and improvement.
“I assure officers and stakeholders of my commitment to improving excise operations,” Salawu said. He further called for cooperation, urging officers to embrace the newly launched Unified Customs Management System (B’Odogwu), while stressing the importance of in-house training and stakeholder engagement to boost excise performance and contribute to national economic growth.
