Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, describing him as a reformer, patriot, and illustrious son of Edo State.
In a statement issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the governor said the late Arase was a “great mind, a dedicated public servant, and an exceptional leader” whose contributions to Nigeria’s security architecture remain invaluable.
“Dr. Arase was a man of integrity and honor who served our nation with distinction, rising to the pinnacle of his career through sheer hard work and dedication,” the governor stated.
Governor Okpebholo noted that as the 18th Inspector-General of Police, Arase’s tenure was defined by professionalism, key reforms, and an unwavering commitment to community policing.
“His legacy of service will be remembered for generations. He was a beacon of hope and a source of inspiration to many young police officers and aspiring leaders,” the governor added.
Extending his condolences to the Arase family and the Nigeria Police Force, Governor Okpebholo prayed for the peaceful repose of the late IGP and asked God to grant the bereaved family the strength to bear the loss.
