Air Peace to Launch Direct Lagos–São Paulo Flights After Tinubu’s Brazil Visit

Nigeria’s flag carrier, Air Peace, will soon commence direct flights from Lagos to São Paulo, following a new bilateral agreement sealed during President Bola Tinubu’s state visit to Brazil.

The development was confirmed on Tuesday in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. According to him, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced the agreement during a joint press conference with President Tinubu in Brasília.

The direct air link is among several bilateral pacts signed after an expanded two-hour meeting between the two leaders.

“Increasing the direct connections between Nigeria and Brazil is another essential step to strengthen the ties between our societies,” President Lula was quoted as saying.

To formalize the deal, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and Brazil’s Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Filhos, signed a Bilateral Air Services Agreement aimed at boosting trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between both nations.

In addition, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, and Brazil’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mauro Vieira, signed an agreement on Diplomatic Training Cooperation to deepen diplomatic ties.
