Adamawa Governor Fintiri Gifts Super Falcons Coach Madugu House and N50 Million for WAFCON Triumph

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has rewarded Super Falcons head coach, Justin Pwanidi Madugu, with a three-bedroom bungalow and a cash gift of N50 million in recognition of his outstanding leadership at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Coach Madugu led Nigeria’s women’s national football team to a record-setting 10th WAFCON title in Morocco, where the Super Falcons mounted a dramatic comeback to defeat hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final.

The Governor presented the gifts during Madugu’s courtesy visit to the Government House in Yola, the Adamawa State capital. The visit came shortly after the team’s return from Morocco and a national reception hosted by President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.

In a statement shared on Facebook by the governor’s aide, Pius Iliya, Fintiri said, “On behalf of the Government and people of Adamawa State, we are proud to honour Coach Justine Pwanidi Madugu with a three-bedroom bungalow and N50 million for his leadership in bringing home the 2024 WAFCON trophy.”

Fintiri, celebrating Madugu as a proud son of Adamawa, lauded his tactical brilliance and the team’s resilience throughout the tournament.

The recognition from Governor Fintiri follows a state banquet held by President Tinubu in Abuja, where each Super Falcons player received $100,000, while Madugu and other technical crew members were awarded $50,000 each. The President also announced national honours and gifted residential apartments in Abuja to the entire team.

Describing the Falcons’ victory as “historic” and “inspirational,” President Tinubu commended the team for their determination and fighting spirit.

The win not only adds another star to Nigeria’s football history but also cements the Super Falcons’ dominance in African women’s football as the most successful team on the continent with 10 WAFCON titles.
