Veteran Nigerian rapper Jude Abaga, popularly known as M.I, has expressed admiration for the rising wave of young talents dominating the country’s hip-hop scene.
In a recent interview, the celebrated lyricist acknowledged the hard work and creativity of new-school rappers such as Odumodublvck, Blaqbonez, Shallipopi, Ladipoe, and Falz. He praised their energy and impact on the genre, stating that they are indeed making significant waves in the industry.
However, M.I was quick to clarify that while he respects their success, he does not feel threatened or outdated. According to him, despite the shift in the spotlight, he doesn’t see himself as the “old guy” when it comes to lyrical skills or relevance.
“I admire what they’re doing,” he said. “But I’ve never felt like I’m behind when it comes to talent or ability.”
