Nigeria will lock horns with South Africa in a highly anticipated semi-final clash at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), scheduled to take place at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca, Morocco.
South Africa’s Banyana Banyana sealed their semi-final ticket after a hard-fought 4-1 penalty shootout victory over Senegal, following a goalless draw in regulation and extra time on Saturday.

Nigeria, on the other hand, cruised into the semi-finals a day earlier with a dominant 5-0 win over Zambia’s Copper Queens, maintaining their unbeaten streak in the tournament.
The upcoming match rekindles a fierce rivalry between the two African giants. Their last WAFCON meeting was in 2022—also in Morocco—when South Africa edged Nigeria 2-1 in the group stage, a win that followed their painful loss to the Super Falcons in the 2018 final.
In the other semi-final fixture, Ghana’s Black Queens will face host nation Morocco, with both matches set to be played on the same day.
