Honourable Omosede Igbinedion has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the upcoming Ovia Federal Constituency by-election, scheduled by INEC for August 16, 2025.
Our correspondent, Charles Kiseh, reports that the APC primary election, held on Saturday across the 23 wards in Ovia South-West and Ovia North-East local government areas, witnessed a large turnout of party members.
Declaring the results, Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee, Lucky Ajokperinovo, announced that Igbinedion, who was the sole aspirant, polled a total of 5,819 votes to secure the party’s ticket.
Edo State Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, who voted at Iguobazuwa Ward 1, praised the peaceful conduct of the exercise. He reaffirmed that the APC remains a party rooted in constitutional values and respect for democratic processes.
In her remarks after the victory, Honourable Omosede Igbinedion expressed gratitude to Governor Monday Okpebholo, Deputy Governor Idahosa, and APC faithful for their confidence in her candidacy, promising to represent the party faithfully in the by-election.
It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has slated August 16, 2025, for by-elections in sixteen constituencies nationwide.
