His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State, has extended warm felicitations to all teachers in the State in celebration of World Teachers’ Day.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo praised the dedication, resilience, and invaluable contributions of teachers to the growth and development of Edo State and humanity at large.

“Today, as the world celebrates the noble profession of teaching, Governor Okpebholo joins the people of Edo State in celebrating our educators — the bedrock of our society,” the statement read.

He described teachers as more than just instructors, calling them “nation builders, mentors, and architects of the future,” whose tireless efforts continue to shape the next generation of leaders, innovators, and productive citizens.

Governor Okpebholo acknowledged the crucial role teachers play, often under challenging conditions, in ensuring that quality education remains accessible to every child in Edo State.

“The theme for this year’s celebration aligns with our administration’s vision for revitalizing the education sector. We understand that no educational reform can succeed without the active involvement, professional growth, and welfare of teachers,” Mr. Itua noted.

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies that enhance teachers’ welfare, including continuous professional training, access to modern teaching tools, improved working conditions, and timely payment of salaries and allowances.

He further pledged to prioritize better retirement benefits and create more conducive learning and teaching environments across all public schools in the State.

“To every teacher in our primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions — your impact is immeasurable. The foundation you lay in the lives of our children defines the future of our State. Remain steadfast and committed to upholding the noble standards of your profession,” the Governor urged.

Governor Okpebholo concluded by reaffirming the government’s unwavering support for the teaching community, saying,

“The Edo State Government sees you, values your sacrifices, and is dedicated to supporting you.”

He wished all teachers a happy and fulfilling World Teachers’ Day.
