The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has advised Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, to concentrate on the development of the state rather than expending energy and resources on probing his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki.

Speaking in Benin City, Edo State, Wike emphasized that investigating the former governor would yield little to no meaningful outcome. Instead, he urged Governor Okpebholo to channel his efforts and state resources toward delivering developmental projects that would benefit the people of Edo.
According to a statement released on Monday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike remarked, “If there is anyone who should have encouraged Okpebholo to probe and prosecute Obaseki, it would be me. But all of that is in the past now.”
Wike was in Benin for the commissioning of the New Edo Line Terminal, part of the second phase of the Benin Central Bus Terminal project. However, the event was cancelled following the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
