The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has officially commissioned 100 new Toyota buses under the revived Edo Line transport scheme, urging Edo people to rally behind Governor Monday Okpebholo in his efforts to develop the state.
The commissioning ceremony took place at the New Edo Line terminal in Central Park, Benin City. The event was graced by notable dignitaries including Governor Okpebholo, the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
Commending the governor’s developmental strides, Wike praised the rebirth of Edo Line as a bold step toward reducing transportation costs and enhancing commuter safety. He urged the governor to prioritize ongoing projects that directly impact the people, rather than expending resources on probing the past administration of former Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Governor Monday Okpebholo, in his remarks, reaffirmed his commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Edo State. He credited the progress made so far to the strong backing of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Earlier, the Managing Director of the new Edo Line, Henshaw Oligbi, expressed gratitude to the governor for his vision in reviving the once-defunct transport company. He assured that the current management would uphold high standards and justify the administration’s trust.
The highpoint of the event was the official commissioning and test driving of one of the newly acquired buses by Minister Wike.
