WAEC Temporarily Withdraws 2025 WASSCE Results Over Technical Glitches

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has temporarily withdrawn access to the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results after detecting technical bugs in the recently released scores.

In a statement issued by its Public Affairs Department on Thursday, the council said the issue came to light following public complaints and an internal review of results in Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics.

According to WAEC, the errors were linked to a new “paper serialization” system introduced to curb examination malpractice, a method already adopted by another national examination body. The council noted that although the measure aligns with global best practices in assessment, the internal review revealed technical faults in the affected subjects’ results.

“WAEC sincerely regrets to inform the general public of technical issues discovered during the internal review of the recently released results,” the statement read.

The examination body assured that the glitches are being urgently addressed and advised candidates who have already checked their results to recheck them after 24 hours.

“We extend our deep and sincere apologies to all affected candidates and the general public. We appreciate their patience and understanding as we work diligently to resolve this matter with transparency and urgency,” the council added.

WAEC reaffirmed its commitment to fairness, professionalism, and transparency, promising to restore access to the corrected results within a day.
