Nollywood has lost one of its iconic figures as veteran actor Tom Njemanze has died after a battle with prostate cancer. The sad news was confirmed on Saturday by filmmaker Stanley Ontop, who revealed that the actor passed away on Friday.
Stanley had previously raised public awareness about Njemanze’s deteriorating health by sharing an emotional video appeal seeking financial assistance for the actor’s medical treatment.
Tom Njemanze became a household name in the 1990s, featuring in a string of classic Nollywood films that remain beloved by fans today. His notable works include Tokunboh, Pounds and Dollars, Atosa, Issakaba, Osuofia in London, Brain Box, and Igbotic Love, among others.
Renowned for his deep, commanding voice and charismatic on-screen presence, Njemanze left an indelible mark on the Nigerian film industry and the hearts of fans both at home and abroad.
