The United Nations has called for justice and accountability following Israeli airstrikes on the Nasser Hospital in Gaza, which left at least 20 people dead. Among the victims were health workers, journalists, and emergency first responders.
The strikes, carried out on Monday, have triggered widespread international condemnation. Israel’s military stated that a preliminary inquiry indicated troops from the Golani Brigade had identified a camera allegedly set up by Hamas near the hospital, which they claimed was being used to monitor Israeli soldiers and direct attacks.
Despite this explanation, the attack has drawn sharp criticism from humanitarian organizations and press freedom advocates. The UN emphasized that hospitals must remain protected spaces during conflict and urged for an independent investigation to ensure accountability for the assault.
