UBEC Reaffirms Commitment to Reducing Out-of-School Children Nationwide

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has restated its dedication to tackling the issue of out-of-school children across Nigeria.

Speaking at a retreat for senior staff held at the Tahir Guest Palace Hotel in Kano on Thursday, the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Aisha Garba, emphasized the commission’s ongoing efforts to expand access to quality basic education.

Dr. Garba disclosed that UBEC has established 34 model and SMART schools across the country as part of its strategy to boost enrollment and learning access. She also highlighted notable progress in infrastructure development, including the construction of over 3,700 classrooms, the provision of more than 142,000 units of furniture, and positive impact on over 181,000 learners.

In addition, Garba stated that the commission is enhancing the quality of teaching and learning through its Teacher Professional Development Programme, designed to equip educators with essential skills and knowledge to drive improved learning outcomes nationwide.
