Tems Unveils ‘Leading Vibe Initiative’ to Support and Uplift Young Women in Music

Award-winning singer and songwriter Tems is channeling her self-made journey as a solo artist into empowering the next generation of African women in music. Through her soon-to-launch Leading Vibe Initiative, she aims to support, connect, and amplify young female voices across the continent, with plans to grow globally. As part of the initiative, Tems is hosting a two-day seminar in Lagos for 15 to 20 women, focused on skill development, industry insight, and community building.

The initiative kicks off with an open call for applications to its inaugural program in Lagos, set for August 8–9. Designed to connect emerging talent with industry executives and creatives, the program will feature meet-and-greet sessions, songwriting and production workshops, studio time, panel discussions, and tutorials covering various aspects of the music business. Participants will also receive production software and resources to support their growth. Additional editions are planned across Africa later this year. The application deadline is July 13.

Tems has officially launched the Leading Vibe Initiative, a program designed to empower and support African women in music. Announcing the news on Instagram, she wrote:

“Today, I’m so proud to launch the @leadingvibeinitiative. From my self-taught journey with no roadmap, I created this to uplift African women in music—those breaking barriers, building boldly, and leading the next wave. We begin this August in Lagos, then move across the continent.”

The initiative aims to discover and support talented young women with the potential to reshape the music industry. By providing tools, mentorship, and resources, Tems hopes to inspire a new generation of female leaders who will help define the future sound of African music.
