Shettima in London to Accompany Buhari’s Body Back to Nigeria.

Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in London on Monday morning, acting on President Bola Tinubu’s directive, following the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Shettima was joined by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and was received in the UK by Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar and Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum. The visit was confirmed in a post on the Vice President’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.

President Tinubu, in a formal statement on Sunday, announced the death of former President Buhari and directed Shettima to lead the delegation accompanying Buhari’s body back to Nigeria.

Muhammadu Buhari, who governed Nigeria as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023 and previously as military head of state from January 1984 to August 1985, was a prominent figure in the country’s political history. In honor of his legacy, President Tinubu has ordered all national flags to be flown at half-mast.
