Senator David Mark Alleges Plot to Derail ADC Through Courts

ABUJA – The Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has sounded a note of caution, alleging that the current administration may resort to judicial tactics to hinder the party’s growing political momentum.

Speaking during a strategic meeting in Abuja with the ADC’s National Legal Support Group, led by Abdullahi Abdurrahman, Senator Mark expressed fears that legal mechanisms might be weaponised to destabilise the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Abdurrahman revealed that over 310 lawyers have voluntarily committed to defending the ADC across all existing and upcoming court cases nationwide. He affirmed that the legal force has a presence in all 36 states and the FCT, forming a nationwide legal firewall against political and judicial challenges.

“Our team is ready and willing to handle any legal issue that may arise. We believe in this leadership and the party’s vision for Nigeria,” said Abdurrahman. He also applauded Senator Mark’s integrity and called on the party’s Legal Adviser, Barrister Peter Oyewole, to provide timely legal documentation to support the team’s efforts.

The ADC’s legal team is reinforced by key figures including Barrister Oyewole; former Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN); and former Edo State Governor, Professor Oserheimen Osunbor.

Barrister Oyewole assured the legal group that all protocols were strictly followed during the formation of the new ADC coalition, and the party is on strong legal footing.

Senator Mark, while appreciating the dedication of the legal team, warned of a potential political witch-hunt.

“The ADC is the party to beat in 2027. The ruling government might use the judiciary as a tool to suppress our momentum,” he cautioned.

He urged Nigerians to support the ADC as a patriotic and credible alternative, promising a renewed and visionary leadership for the country. Senator Mark encouraged the legal team to remain vigilant as the party gears up for what he called a defining election cycle.
