Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi could make his long-awaited return to action this weekend when Hull City travel to face Watford at Vicarage Road in an English Championship clash.
The 31-year-old joined the Tigers during the summer transfer window on a free move from West Bromwich Albion but has been sidelined with a hamstring injury sustained in last month’s goalless draw against Coventry City. His absence has seen him miss Hull’s last four league fixtures as well as Nigeria’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
Hull boss Sergej Jakirovic remains cautious about rushing Ajayi back, telling The Yorkshire Post, “I don’t know, maybe 70 or 80 per cent. Our doctors are very careful. They don’t want to push anybody.”
Currently sitting 14th in the Championship with eight points from six matches, Hull City will be eager for Ajayi’s return to solidify their defence, having conceded 11 goals in their last four outings.
