Prince Harry and King Charles Reunite After Months of Estrangement

Prince Harry met his father, King Charles III, at Clarence House in London on Wednesday in what is believed to be their first face-to-face meeting since February 2024, according to British media reports.

The Duke of Sussex, who has been in the UK since Monday for a series of engagements, was seen arriving at the royal residence in a black car just over an hour after the king returned from Scotland. The rare encounter has fueled speculation of a long-awaited reconciliation between father and son.

Harry, who stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California, last saw his father during a brief visit to the UK when Charles was diagnosed with cancer in 2023. In May, the prince admitted they were not on speaking terms, citing ongoing legal battles in the UK and his public criticisms of the royal family in interviews and his memoir.

Despite the rift, Harry has expressed hope for “reconciliation,” saying he does “not know how much longer my father has.”

Earlier this week, Harry visited the grave of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, on the second anniversary of her passing. He also has several charity commitments scheduled during his UK stay.

Although Harry has returned to Britain multiple times since February, he had been unable to see his father, even once being just two miles apart at separate events.

Hints of a potential reunion emerged in July, when the king’s press secretary and Harry’s communications chief were spotted meeting privately in London—a move that set off speculation that Wednesday’s meeting was in the works.
