The Presidency has dismissed claims that a member of the kitchen staff at Aso Rock Presidential Villa was arrested for attempting to poison President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The denial was issued on Sunday, March 1, by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, who addressed a circulating video suggesting a security breach involving a presidential chef.
In the video, a narrator claimed that a member of the villa’s kitchen staff had been taken into custody after “credible intelligence” indicated a potential threat to the President’s safety, prompting an investigation by specialised security personnel.
Responding to the allegations, Onanuga categorically stated:
“No Aso Rock kitchen staff arrested. No Aso Rock kitchen staff attempted to poison President Tinubu. Please ignore this fake news being disseminated by this video.”
He urged the public to disregard the video, emphasizing that the claims were entirely fabricated.
The Presidency confirmed that there was no such security breach and reaffirmed that all circulating reports on the matter are false, warning against spreading unverified information.
