Igbinedion Secondary School Expels Students After Viral Bullying Video Sparks Outrage

Management of Igbinedion Secondary School has expelled students involved in a viral bullying incident that shocked viewers and triggered protests from parents and members of the public.

The incident, which reportedly occurred in Benin City, came to light after a disturbing video circulated online showing two senior students assaulting a junior colleague inside what appeared to be an empty room.

In the footage, one of the seniors is seen flogging the junior student with a leather belt while the victim lies on the floor begging for mercy. The junior tried to shield his face with his arms as the blows continued, while voices in the background pleaded with the senior to stop.

Moments later, another senior student approached and appeared to pull the victim away, but instead began attacking him as well. The second student was seen pushing the junior across the floor and stomping on his chest, while the first attacker also jumped and landed on the victim during the assault.

The video quickly sparked outrage online and prompted parents to protest at the school, demanding action against those responsible.

In a statement issued after the incident, the school strongly condemned the act and confirmed that the students involved in the bullying had been expelled.

The management said the decision was taken in line with the institution’s zero-tolerance policy for violence and misconduct among students.

The development has also led to calls from Nigerians for further investigation and stronger measures to address bullying in schools.
