Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has revealed that he has been trying to persuade his Super Eagles teammates, Ademola Lookman and Raphael Onyedika, to join him at Turkish champions Galatasaray.
Both players have been linked with moves to Turkey, and Osimhen said he took time to share his positive experiences at the Istanbul-based club with them.
Speaking after Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid, Osimhen said he spoke with Lookman ahead of a World Cup qualifier, describing Galatasaray as an “amazing” club with passionate supporters.
“Before playing the World Cup qualifier, I spoke with Lookman. I told him everything about my experience at Galatasaray, how amazing the club and the fans are, and that when he comes here, he’ll feel right at home,” Osimhen said.
He added that while he would welcome Lookman’s arrival, the final decision rests with the player.
“We talked at length, but in the end, he’s an adult and will make decisions about his future on his own. If he comes here, it would be great for the club, the fans and the players.”
Osimhen also disclosed that he held similar discussions with Onyedika during the Africa Cup of Nations and again before returning to Istanbul.
“I spoke to Onyedika at AFCON and before coming back to Istanbul. I hope he’s going to come,” he said.
Praising the midfielder’s qualities, Osimhen described Onyedika as a fluid and highly talented player, adding that discussions are ongoing with the player’s representatives and club.
“At the end of the day, these two players are professionals and they will decide what is best for them. I’ve only tried to bring them to one of the best clubs in the world,” Osimhen concluded.
