First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated ₦1 billion to support victims of the recent devastating floods in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State.
The donation was made through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), the First Lady’s flagship humanitarian program, during her condolence visit to the state.
According to a statement by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, shared via X (formerly Twitter), the cheque was formally presented to Governor Mohammed Bago at the Niger State Government House in Minna.
Beyond the financial assistance, Senator Tinubu also delivered a truckload of relief materials aimed at addressing the immediate needs of displaced residents.
The First Lady’s visit comes in the aftermath of torrential rainfall that caused severe flooding in Mokwa, leading to the displacement of hundreds of residents and the destruction of homes, farmland, and critical infrastructure.
Senator Tinubu emphasized the federal government’s commitment to supporting states affected by natural disasters and reiterated the need for long-term solutions to prevent future occurrences.
