Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has assured residents that the ongoing construction of the Ramat Park flyover in Benin City will restore full operations at the High Court and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office affected by persistent flooding.
Speaking during an inspection of the project, the governor said the longstanding flooding in the area had disrupted key institutions and businesses, but expressed confidence that the situation would be permanently resolved upon completion of the flyover and its drainage infrastructure.
“Flooding in this area has threatened businesses and key government institutions, including the High Court and INEC. With what we are doing here, we are confident that normal operations will be restored after completion,” he said.
Okpebholo disclosed that the flyover project is about 90 percent complete, while drainage works have reached approximately 70 percent. He added that the project is expected to be delivered before the peak of the rainy season to prevent further disruptions.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, noting that the project will not only tackle flooding but also ease traffic congestion and protect economic activities in the area.
Also speaking, site engineer Femi Fatola confirmed steady progress, assuring that the project remains on schedule and that the flood challenges in the area would soon be resolved.
During the tour, the governor also inspected other projects, including the Sapele Road flyover and ongoing road works at Charismatic Road and Upper Ekenwan Road, reaffirming his administration’s focus on improving urban infrastructure across Benin City.
