Residents of Ogheghe and Charismatic Road off Ekenhuan Road in Benin City have commended Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his commitment to improving infrastructure across the state.
Speaking on the ongoing construction of their road, community members described the project as a long-awaited intervention that has brought significant relief after years of neglect.
Resident Osas Uyi said, “The deplorable condition of this road inflicted persistent hardship on all of us, particularly during the rainy season when erosion, flooding, and deep potholes made movement almost impossible.”
Residents also revealed that commercial drivers often avoided the route due to its poor state, forcing people to walk long distances to access transport. Businesses along the road equally suffered as customers found it difficult to reach shops and offices.
Shop owners expressed optimism that the project would boost economic activity and enhance security in the area. Trader Mama Peace, who sells roasted plantain at Charismatic junction, urged contractors to “uphold high standards and deliver quality work within the stipulated timeframe,” while pledging support for the governor’s development agenda.
The residents hailed the construction as tangible proof of Governor Okpebholo’s dedication to grassroots developmentand improving living conditions for Edo citizens.
