Oba of Benin Names New Community Leaders Under Ologbo Dukedom

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has officially confirmed the appointments of Pa. John Obasuyi as the Odionwere (village head) of Imasabor Community and Pa. Ikpomwonsa Omorodion as the Odionwere of Oghobaye Community.

Their appointments were formally announced during an expanded meeting of community elders held at the Oba’s palace in Benin City. The proclamation was delivered by Chief Uyi Okungbowa, the Ogua of Benin, alongside Chief Isaac Oghafua Oyeoba, the Oyeoba of Benin.

At the same gathering, Uhunoma Igbinigie and Omoregie Omoruyi were publicly recognized as the Okaigheles (youth leaders) of Imasabor and Oghobaye Communities, respectively.

In accordance with the Oba’s directive, both communities held traditional ceremonies over the weekend to celebrate the installation of their new leaders, marked by cultural festivities and drumming.

Speaking during the event, Pa. John Obasuyi and Okaighele Uhunoma Igbinigie called on elders and youths alike for their support and prayers, pledging to serve with wisdom and integrity.

In Oghobaye, Pa. Ikpomwonsa Omorodion also formally presented Omoregie Omoruyi as his Okaighele. Together, they offered prayers for divine and ancestral guidance, expressing hopes for peace, unity, and progress in the community.
