The Edo State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Frances Ben-Ushie, has once again called on the Edo State Government to introduce monthly stipends for corps members serving across the state.
Ben-Ushie made the appeal during the official swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream One corps members held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Okada, Ovia North East Local Government Area.
According to her, the continued absence of financial support from the state government has been a major factor driving corps members to seek redeployment to other states that offer better welfare packages.
She emphasized that providing stipends would not only ease the financial burden on corps members but also encourage them to stay and contribute meaningfully to the development of Edo State.
Meanwhile, our correspondent, Charles Kiseh, reports that a total of 1,033 corps members have been registered and sworn in for the orientation course. The newly inducted corps members include 454 males and 579 females.
