NECO Releases 2025 BECE Results, Announces Resit Dates for Core Subjects
The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results, following the conclusion of the Award Committee meeting held at its headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Acting Director of Public Affairs, Azeez Sani, NECO revealed that a total of 179,201 candidates registered for the examination, which covered 12 subjects. The exam took place from May 12 to May 23, 2025.
Chairperson of the Award Committee, Dr. Folake David—Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education—commended the council for the transparent and efficient process that led to the timely release of the results.
Alongside the result release, NECO has also approved the timetable for the 2025 BECE resit, which is scheduled for July 23 and 24, 2025. The resit will focus on Mathematics and English Studies—two mandatory subjects for transition into senior secondary education.
Students intending to take part in the resit are advised to begin preparations in line with forthcoming guidelines to be published by the Council.
NECO encouraged candidates and schools to visit its official website or approved platforms to check results and obtain information about the resit procedures.
Sani emphasized that the development underscores NECO’s continued commitment to upholding credibility and transparency in its examinations and result management.
