NDLEA Destroys 18,000kg of Cannabis, Arrests Four in Edo Forest Raid

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Edo State has destroyed over 18,000 kilograms of cannabis in a major raid at Ugbogui Forest, Ovia Southwest Local Government Area.

State Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju disclosed that the illicit farm, covering 6.79 hectares, had the potential to yield nearly 17,000 kilograms of cannabis. He further revealed that 112 bags of harvested cannabis, weighing 1,176 kilograms, were seized during the operation.

Four suspects, reportedly from Akwa Ibom and Delta States, were arrested at the scene.

Ofoyeju cautioned that large-scale cannabis cultivation poses a serious threat to food security and appealed for stronger public support in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse.
