NCDC Warns: Unreported Fever Outbreaks Pose Greater Danger to Nigerians

The Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Jide Idris, has warned that Nigerians face heightened health risks if cases of dengue fever, yellow fever, and other disease outbreaks are not promptly reported and properly diagnosed.

Speaking during a national television program on Monday, Dr. Idris expressed concern over the growing number of dengue fever cases being mistaken for malaria due to similar symptoms and inadequate diagnostic practices.

He urged health facility managers, especially those in tertiary institutions, to immediately notify the Ministry of Health and the NCDC upon detecting any suspected case to ensure timely intervention and prevent widespread outbreaks.
