Over the weekend, the Nigerian Air Force carried out a series of coordinated precision airstrikes against major Boko Haram hideouts in the Mandara Mountains of Borno State.
The strikes, conducted under Operation Hadin Kai, eliminated several top terrorist commanders and destroyed key insurgent bases.
The mission specifically targeted Wa Jahode and Loghpere, long-standing strongholds of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction of Boko Haram.
These locations, situated in the rugged terrain along the Nigeria-Cameroon border, had recently become hubs of increased terrorist activity, including logistics stockpiling and the presence of senior JAS leaders.

NAF Strikes Boko Haram Strongholds in Borno
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on July 6, 2025, conducted precision airstrikes on terrorist hideouts in the Mandara Mountains, Borno State, dealing a major blow to Boko Haram’s Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad faction.
According to NAF spokesperson Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the strikes targeted Wa Jahode and Loghpere—long-time insurgent enclaves—after surveillance confirmed terrorist activity, including a logistics buildup and the presence of senior commanders. The operation was carried out under Operation Hadin Kai.
Terrorist activity has recently escalated along Nigeria’s mountainous border with Cameroon, with intelligence revealing a buildup of logistics and senior JAS commanders in the area.
Following surveillance that identified insurgent compounds marked by solar panels, black flags, and fortified structures, the Nigerian Air Force launched coordinated airstrikes targeting logistics hubs, command centers, and shelters.
“Several terrorists were neutralised, disrupting their supply chains and reducing their offensive capabilities,” said NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet.
He reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to ongoing operations aimed at restoring peace in affected regions.
